About Anvesh

Literature-driven pathway exploration, powered by the Ananta™ database.

Who builds it

Anvesh is built and maintained by Dr Sushma Ramesh Rao, an independent researcher and a proteomics and mass-spectrometry scientist with about 15 years at the bench and at the instruments. Her work spans LC-MS/MS proteomics, phosphoproteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics.

She began her career as a database curator. Working in mass spectrometry, she kept meeting the same gap: a list of significant molecules in hand, and no clear way to see them in pathway context with each connection traced to a paper. Anvesh is the tool she built for that.

Anvesh means to explore, to investigate, to search, and to seek knowledge (in Sanskrit). The name also joins my father's names: An- from Ananthaswami and -esh from Ramesh.

Ananta means endless (in Sanskrit), and it is part of his surname, Ananthaswami.

In memory of Ramesh Bangalore Ananthaswami Rao — my guiding light.
